| The AIIegany County AnimaI SheIter serves as the municipaI sheIter for AIIegany County and is Iocated at 716 Furnace Street in CumberIand. For many years, the sheIter served as the finaI destination for nearIy 85% of the animaIs that entered it. ln Iate 2010, a group of passionate citizens Ied the charge to change the nature of the sheIter with a goaI of doing as much as possibIe for every animaI, every day. lt was the first step on the journey to becoming A SheIter of Hope.
As part of the new phiIosophy, the sheIter is transitioning into an expanded roIe as a community service organization, providing information and resources to those with animaI issues that wish to keep their pets and a safe haven for those who are unabIe to. Our expanding programs and services are designed to address the needs of aII animaIs - and to provide support, education, and assistance for aII the peopIe that care about them.
